The Hiatus is Almost Over!

Hello my blogger friends!

My self-imposed blogging hiatus is almost over!
Two-thirds of our hectic schedule is over and we will be returning to normal in about 10 days. We embark on another adventure today!
While I wont tell you where exactly we are going yet, I will say that it's warm, gorgeous and exotic.
We've never been before and are extremely excited! I will blog all about it, plus the last month, when we get back.
I have been a horrible blogger this month and should have set up some guest posts or at least some scheduled posts, but honestly, it's been too crazy around here for me to think too much about it.
I know Ive been tagged by Maranda and havent responded (sorry! I will, I promise!) and there are several blogs that I've been wanting to comment on, but havent had a chance (or cant- Im unable to comment on one of my favorite blogs- Army of Two because Blogger spazs out every time I try).
Though I havent had a chance to keep up with most of the blogs in my reader this past month, I will catch up when we get back.
So, I promise Ill be better in November. I have so much to blog about, it should be easy to do.
I hope everyone has a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Stay safe and eat lots of yummy candy!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-in #18

Hi Everyone and hello to my new followers! Im sorry for the lack of posts lately. I'm usually much better about posting. My Mom is in town and we are having a blast decorating, shopping and showing her around Germany. Ill have so much to post about next week after she leaves, complete with lots of pictures! Until then, here's another edition of MilSpouse Fill-in hosted by Wife of a Sailor.

  • Are you a night owl or an early bird? Early bird. I do my best work in the mornings. I can also be a night owl too and dont mind staying up late. The worst time of day for me is the afternoon. I usually hit a wall around 2 or 3 and need either caffeine or a nap.

  • What makes you jealous? Jealousy is such a horrible, albeit natural, emotion. I wish I could say nothing, but that would be a lie. We are really looking forward to being parents, so people with children make me a teensy bit jealous. Especially if they were able to get pregnant easily. Our fingers are crossed that it will be easy for us too.

  • Have you started Christmas/holiday shopping yet? When will you finish? (There's only 63 days left!) Yes! I always start early and this year is no exception. In fact, when we went to LA 2 weeks ago, I took several Christmas gifts for J's family with us. Wrapped and everything. I'll be sending several home with my mom for my own family too! I havent bought anything for J yet though.....

  • What would you have a personal chef make you tonight? A filet- cooked medium, creamy parmesan polenta (because it never turns out right when I make it), creamy pumpkin soup (because I LOVE it) and something chocolately and delicious for dessert.

  • Where was your first kiss? Hmm...not sure. I guess it wasn't that memorable! =) I think either next to the gym at school or on the school bus. I DO however remember my first kiss with J and that was while we were sitting on my back porch after dinner on our first date. It was memorable and perfect.

  • Happy Weekend Everyone! I promise Ill be back soon!
PS--It is 27ยบ here this morning and everything is covered in frost! Wow, hello Winter; Id like Fall back!

    MilSpouse Friday Fill-in

It's Friday which means Milspouse Friday Fill-in!
    1. What are some things on your bucket list? (from New Girl on Post) Have some kiddos, travel somewhere new several times a year, act in a play, learn a musical instrument, and become fluent in another language, just to name a few.
    2. How long have you been a MilSpouse and where have you been stationed so far? (from Raising Roscoe) We've been married for almost 2 years and together for almost 4.5 years. We've lived in Arkansas (my home state and where we met) & now Germany.
    3. What is a list of songs that sums up your life so far? (from Confessions of a Sailor's Wife) Lucky by Jason Mraz & Colbie Callait, Amazing by Aerosmith, & Perfect by Smashing Pumpkins.... sappy, yes? Ok, how about Bottom of a Bottle by Smile Empty Soul, My Favorite Mistake by Sheryl Crow, & Getting Away with Murder by Papa Roach. Ha! =)
    4. What is your favorite kind of pizza? Real Italian Pizza, the kind you can only get in Europe. It's amazing! Super thin crust, olive oil instead of pizza sauce, parm cheese, thinly sliced Italian meats, rockets and some veggies. We eat them all the time. The best one ever was in Verona, Italy. YUM.
    5. What are three good things in your life right now? My husband, my health & my family & friends. Ok so that's four. Deal with it. :P

    Just stopping by....

    Hello!

I'm back for a moment to check in. We just got back from Los Angeles last Tuesday night. J's brother's wedding was on Saturday. J was the best man and I was a bridesmaid. It was a beautiful wedding and we all had a blast. Maybe a little too much champagne, but a blast nonetheless! The only downfall was that we never adjusted to the time change. California is 9 hours behind Germany. We were exhausted the entire trip, but were able to fall back into our normal sleeping routines once we were home again. I've got a million errands to run and a house to clean before Saturday when my mom comes in for a visit. We're super excited! I'll be in and out over the next couple of weeks and if I ever get a moment, Ill set up some scheduled blog posts. I hope everyone is enjoying October and fall as much as I am!

Notre Dame & lots of food!

    The Notre Dame Cathedral

These two were photos were taken at a restaurant
that we had drinks and an appetizer at.
It's around the corner from the Notre Dame.
It was built in the 1500's and has it's original wine cellar.
We walked down to the cellar and picked out our wine.
This is where we had my birthday dinner- Boullion Racine.
    It was FANTASTIC!
It was built in the early 1900s.
When we arrived it was quite empty,
    but soon filled up completely.
    I loved the floor!
I had the duck confit with homemade mashed potatoes.
    It was absolutely delicious!
J had the steak with pomme frites and loved every bite.
The real star of the meal was the appetizer- Asparagus Soup.
We INHALED it so fast that I couldn't take a picture.
It was one of the top three best things that I've ever eaten.
    In. my. life.
    Yes, it was that good.
J had the very authenticly French creme brulee while I had the
dark chocolate praline cake. It was divine. Rich, chocolately,
    and creamy.
Mimosas and presents in bed on my birthday!
I LOVE my Stella & Dot starfish necklace!
We had brunch at a well known restaurant called Angelina.
They are famous for their hot chocolate and sweets.
The food was very tasty and the hot chocolate was sinful.
It tasted like a melted Hershey's chocolate bar with whipped cream.
So rich that I could only have one cup.

    The Louvre & Parisian Palaces

One of my favorite places in Paris
    was the Louvre.
    It is majestic and intriguing.
We did not have enough time this trip to
    go in and explore.
When we go back, I want to spend at least
half a day wandering the halls.

The gardens outside of the Louvre are gorgeous!
We sat and enjoyed the sun and beauty around us
before continuing with our Parisian tour.

    The Champs Elysees
This reminded me of the Washington Monument.
    The Petit Palace
    The Grand Palace

MilSpouse Friday Fill-in & Giveaway Winner!

Happy October 1st Everyone! To celebrate, here's another round of MilSpouse Friday Fill-in.

    1. What is the silliest get-up you have ever worn outside of a Halloween party? (from To The Nth) Hmm...probably anything from the 8th grade. That was my weird, hippee stage. I wore flannel, peace signs and flower necklaces, shimmery white lipstick, and shiny red sketcher boots. Hot, right? Oh Lord, or maybe something from early high school when I embraced my country roots and wore Wranglers and Ropers. Ugh... I guess I played around with style a lot when I was younger until I found what worked best for me. Thankfully the flannel, tight jeans and cowboy boots are long gone, but I still have my shiny red Sketchers!
    2. What is something that you gave up in order to live the military lifestyle? (from Pennies from Heaven) Mainly the ability to plan something in advance with certainty. Now that we've moved to Europe, it's looking like my career is going to have to sit on the back burner for awhile. I've been searching for a job, even a volunteering position, but there aren't any APN positions open and apparently I'm overqualified to volunteer.
    3. If money wasn't a factor and you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? And why? (from Life and Times of a Displaced Jersey Girl) Fiji, Tahiti, Australia- all because they are far away places that I want to see. Id would also be nice to fly back home for free with my pup, instead of $900.
    4. If you were going to join the military, what branch would you join? Or which MOS/rating would you choose? (from Anonymous) Ha! I respect everyone in the military and am so proud of my husband, but I would NEVER join the military. I am just not cut out for it and I am honest enough to admit that.
    5. What is your favorite thing to make for dinner? (from Armendinger Party of 4) I honestly dont have just one favorite meal. I love to cook and right now, we are in a "try something new every night" stage. I've found 100s of new recipes that I am trying out. So far, most have been a success. Unfortunately, last night's Spicy Orange Beef was not.

The winner of the Christmas in September giveaway is...................

#17-Maranda!!! Yay, congrats! Email your address to kendra143j@yahoo.com.

I was so excited about this giveaway and there were 30 entries altogether! (Im not sure why the max # doesnt stay when I copy and paste the picture below.) I plan on having a few more themed giveaways in the next few months. I'm thinking a pumpkin themed giveaway is in order. =)
