Book Review- Awakened

Not my image

Im not sure what's going on with the few series that I read, but they are all
suffering from the same thing: lack of an interesting story line.
This is number eight in the series. I hear there will be a total of twelve.
Im hoping the rest are more interesting.
It follows several teenagers and young adult vampires and "fledglings" as they fight evil.
Yes, it is written for young adults (i.e. teenagers), but I really like the series.
Or at least, I did. It seems like the authors are just dragging the story out as long as
they can before coming to the big conclusion.
I started reading the Sookie books before I found this series and I was hoping these books
would be more like the Sookie series. They fall terribly short.
My older sister is the one who recommended these books to me and she feels
the same way about this book as I do: It was good, but not great.

Rating: ***
Rating Scale
*****: Amazing, wonderful, MUST-read, loved it!
****: Really liked it, would recommend, great book!
***: Liked it, enjoyable, but not the greatest book ever written.
**: Not so great, some good parts, but overall, it was just ok.
*: Didnt like it, wouldnt recommend it, bad book all around.

For some reason I just can not get into the Sookie series. I love the show but I just can't get into the books. I've heard the Hunger Games series is excellent. I'll be starting that series as soon as this class is over.

My problem with this series is that it feels like she is cutting the story short so that she can have a next book. It infuriates me.
I LOVE the Southern Vampire (Sookie) series, also. They are so light and fun (which is why the very dark tv series makes me a bit frustrated).
You should give The Hallows (Rachel Morgan) series by Kim Harrison a try... very good.

I've never followed any of the vampire series things on TV, but maybe I should at least give one of the books a try!

I'm reading this book now. The first few I thought were great, I love easy reads, but I've seen online how many people didn't care for this book. I didn't know they were going to be going to 12 either...wow. Crazy.

Is this the House of Night series?? I've been interested in that one. I feel like all of these vampire/werewolf stories have been done over and over again.
