I need your help.
Moms, moms-to-be, anyone who has some experience with babies/children, anyone who would like to help out, I would appreciate it so much!
1. What are your favorite children's books? J & I LOVE to read and we hope to pass our love of books along to Baby M. We have a little collection already started and have been reading to her every night before bed. I want to continue to build our collection, but having been out of the baby/child world for quite some time, Im not sure what the best books are these days. We have some of the classics: Dr. Seuss, Do you know how much I love you, Where the Wild Things are and my favorite, If you give a mouse a cookie. So what are some of your favorites?
2. What are your favorite mommy/parenting blogs/websites?
3. When you went in for your delivery, what did you pack for your baby and what did you actually need? Ive got the car seat, diapers, wipes and the homecoming outfit. What else do I need to bring?
Thank you for your help!
xoxo

When Noah was a baby, my mom gave me all my books that I had as a child (well, all the ones that made it passed my childhood). Gracie and Noah pick out a new book just about any time we go to the PX and if they aren't with us then we pick something they don't have. My favorite book to read to them is "Guess How Much I Love You"
5minutesformom.com and babycenter.com community
All 3 of my daughters loveed (and still do) the ABC book by Dr Seuss. We have read it so many times that we all have it memorized! Just the basics that you listed should do fine for your hospital bag. If you want to use binkeys I would bring one of those to see if the baby will take it.
We enrolled Bug in the Dr Suess book club when she was about 6 months old. They send her three books a month for a fair price and she LOVES LOVES LOVES it! She'll sit for hours and stare at the pictures and point and talk to the books. Its great!
For the hospital, it sounds like you're set for baby - Im not sure about there, but here they provide everything while your there for the baby, even pacifiers. Make sure you have a nightgown that is comfortable for you and easy access if your going to nurse. Also, don't forget some slippers.

My boys both loved these small puppet books. They had a hole cut in the middle, and an animal puppet that you stick your finger through so it pops out through the hole... Gah, they're still packed and I'm doing a terrible job of explaining it. I'll try to find a link about them.
The first time I went through labor, I stupidly thought I'd be bored and brought some Sudoku. I kept hearing about finding ways to pass the time, but ended up too exhausted to do anything but lay there. I wish, however, that I had brought some saltines. They wouldn't let me eat after my c-sections, but I was so hungry, so Hubby had to track down some food to sneak in.
I like diapersandwine.blogspot.com, but she hasn't posted in awhile. Hilarious take on mommyhood, though!

These are the books!
I already emailed you my packing list.... But here's a link to a post I did a while ago about baby books. I've bought several others since then, so I'll shoot you an email with that list once I get a chance!!
My favorite book as a kid were Puppy Too Small. But wow, I loved reading as a kid and still do today! We hope to pass that love on to this baby too. Good for you guys!
I don't go on too many baby sites except for BabyCenter and The Bump right now. Parenting.com is supposed to be pretty good, and I check out Diaper Swappers for cloth diaper stuff.
I LOVE Sandra Boynton books for babies, and a lot of the Eric Carle books are good too. Abbie really enjoys those. And she love the "If you give a mouse a cookie" series. Her favorite is the moose/muffin one. She also loves the Berenstein Bear books now too and the Mercer Meyer books.
The hospital had diapers for us, which was good bc we brought newborn diapers for her, and she needed size 1 at birth... Hopefully that won't happen to you. I'd bring one or two outfits, onesies, hats, socks, maybe a blanket, a pacifier if you're going to use one (although the hospital should also have those) and the car seat. Don't forget your camera!
I don't really go to many parenting websites besides babycenter.com.
Little Butt and I really like the SkippyJon Jones books. They're about a little Siamese cat who loves to be a Chihuahua who goes on adventures deep in his closet. Doing the cheesy Mexican accent is fun. Also, How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight (and the others in this series) are cute. But she is older.
The hospital pretty much provided everything for us both times. We needed the carseat and the homecoming outfit and that was it for baby. The main thing I needed to bring for me was the camera and my own pillows (hospital pillows suck). Also, magazines, puzzle books, things like that so you will have something to do but not so much that you have to concentrate on a book. We also took Phase 10 to play. You can also bring your own pajamas...but I just wore the hospital gowns. If you wear two, one with the slit in the back then another with the slit in the front (like a coat) you are covered completely. But you can take your own if you want.
I think that's about it. Oh! Socks for you. But the camera is important...we forgot that with Little Butt and her first pictures were taken on a cell phone. :-(
Hey lady! I hope you're feeling well. I wanted to throw in my two cents: The hospital provided almost everything. The only thing I brought that I ended up using is wipes. Their wipes weren't wet so we had to dampen them each time and it was a pain. Be sure to take advantage of all the free stuff they provide! Also, their diapers were a little big on Baby K, but they worked for the short amount of time we were there. Can't wait to see photos of the babe...I'm excited for you!
